Today is the day I return to work…sort of. I’ll be working from home for the next 4 weeks. What that means is that I’ll be spending part of today getting my self back into the groove. Mentally, it’s like I was cruising along at 60 only to have somene throw road spikes out in front of me. It feels like the gears in by brain came to screeching halt before going into reverse.

This of course is all compounded on nights like last night where I got ot sleep around 1, and was woken regularly by a Izzy making interesting noises throughout the night.

Wow.Sometimes, I REALLY like where I work. I came home from work today with a 16 port Belkin OmniView KVM.
I asked the net admin where it was going (they’re moving buildings at the main office) and he said “I don’t know, you want it.”

New these things are $500….Of course I’ll never use all 16 ports…but it’s still cool…

I’d just like to let everyone know how pathetic my old boss was. I left some flyers for the show out both while I was there, and when I left. Apparently he was throwing them out before I left, and then threw out the flyers I left behind as well. Luckily a former co-worker pulled them out of the trash so that they are still available!

I started the new job. So far it’s been rather boring as they try to find something they feel comfortable throwing at me. The people are cool though and very into gaming (i.e. Unreal, Battfield 1942, etc..) That’ll be very good when Tony Hawk 4 comes out…

Things are a little disorganized though…not that that’s unusual…I’m sitting at the desk ans using the computer of someone who’s on maternity leave…

Damn them. They won’t let me leave. I was nice…I gave my two weeks. I spent a lot of time trying to train someone else. I’m down to my last 2.5 hours. I’m sitting here with my thumb up my ass bored out of my skull. I go and ask if I need to stick around. “If I let you go, I’m gonna catch hell” was my answer. So, since I (used to) like the person I asked. I’m staying around. I’m bored.

Okay. So both of you are probably wondering why I haven’t posted more details about the new job. I’ll tell you now. I accepted a job with Company #1 (the names have been changed to protect the innocent). An hour later Company #2 called and said, “Hey Dude, wanna interview?” Now, I know two people who work at company #2 and hear it’s a great place to work and I’d sent them my resume about 3 months earlier. I figured, I’d hear what they have to say. I went in the next day.

Well, two and a half hours into the interview (that was really more of a conversation) I had pretty much decided I wanted this job. They seemed to like me too. I get a call the next business day from the VP and he asks some more questions. Then I call to find out what the deal is…and a couple of days later go in for another interview. I’m like…okay…it’s cool….

Meanwhile Company #1 is asking me things like , “Wanna go to our annual family thingie?”…I’m like uh-oh….I stall.

The 2nd interview rocks. It’s in the bag I think…I wait…I wait…I call…I wait..I find out they’ll be making an offer…they make an offer…it’s good…I say yeah, but I need it in writing so I can tell Company #1 I’m out. It finally comes….

Problem is…I’m supposed to start at Company #1 on Monday. So I’m kinda screwing Company #1. This is a much better opportunity though. I think I can learn stuff here, and advance, and it pays more to boot. Rock on..

So that’s the story….
I try to avoid saying who I work for…it let’s me bitch and moan with less fear of repercussions…

Time is ticking away here at the ole job. I’m in my last week here and have been pretty bored. I’m spending today trying to do a knowledge dump. It’s been going alright so far. I gotta tell ya though…I’m BORED!

In other news….Insurance companies suck. Apparently, nine only covered 62 days consecutively of physical therapy. That means, that if I only went once in that period, that’s all they’d cover for that condition. Last week the doctor prescribed an additional 6 weeks. I can’t afford (and choose not ) to pay for it out of pocket completely, so my mornings will be filled with the glories of lower back pain! I feel 65 …and I’m not even half that!

I saw a rehearsal on Saturday….I must say we wrote some seriously funny shit….

Forgive me as I take a moment to rant.
#1 - The neighbor is either
         A) getting his piece of shit Geo Tracker fixed and borrowing someone’s truck or
         B) traded his piece of shit Geo Tracker for a truck.

#2 - Just cause you recieve mail at your place of employment does that give your employer the right to open your mail?

1. The company is failing to keep up on technology.

2. The boss is unethical.

3. There is no room for advancement in a company where the organizational structure is a quantum cloud with the president of the organization as the nucleus.
