The winner of the contest for March of the Kitefliers tickets was Tim Burke from the University of South Floria with..

For the time is right now
I need this sparkling moment
For some great champagne.
Where is your wine cellar, my friend.
My throat longs for some of that taste.

Can you bake some chickens with that champagne.
My quest for poultry is insatiable.
I still need my chicken supplement.
Not that chicken, THAT’S MY PET!

Can I sit at your kitchen table.
The one with the wooded mahogany chairs.
I will sit there and eat like a madman.
I will dump salt and pepper in your drink.

In a suprise move I also gave away a single ticket to the runner-up, Dawn Narramore, with…

This is a story
moo-moo-moodeley-moo
About a cow
moo-moo-moodeley-moo
And Life
Life, life, lifedy life

Oh that cow
moo, moo, moo
That cow eats grass
That cow eats as much grass
as he wa-ants to
Ding, Boom

Oh that cow
moo, moo, moo
That cow eats grass
That cow eats as much grass
as he wa-ants to
Ding, Boom

Life.
Loathe it or ignore it,
you can’t ignore it.
Life.
We dwell on it.
Life.
Life, health, home and auto
turn to
Death, sickness, rubble and totaled
Life.
Do you know how important life is to us?
If it weren’t for life,
we wouldn’t be living.
So always remember, and never forget.
Life.

Mooooooooo.

Enjoy the show!!

Okay folks, we have a winner and as soon as I hear back from them I’ll make it public who won.

The first bit of press for the show came out today…thanks to the Tampa Tribune.

Despite the fact that she misspelled my name whenever I’m quoted.

The contest is officially over. We’ll be deciding the winner later today. Stay tuned…

JUST A REMINDER!!!!
That’s right folks it’s contest time. I’m giving away two tickets to see the WORLD PREMIER of The March of the Kitefliers on opening weekend at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.

The play takes place in a coffee shop. The play also has an open mic night filled with hilariously bad poetry. To enter the contest all you have to do is send an email to
BADPOETRY at GONZONIA.COM with the worst open mic poetry you can come up with. ORIGINAL POETRY ONLY. Please don’t send me Emily Dickinson just because your 9th grade English teacher derided you about your choice in undergarments.

The poems will be judged on whatever me, the other writer and the director decide we like the best. If you win I’ll email you and let you know. You’ll be able to use the tickets for any show opening weekend (8pm Fri. Aug 5th, 8pm Sat Aug 6th, or 4pm Sun Aug. 7th. I’ll need to know in advance which show and they’ll be waiting for you at will call).

All entries must be recieved by 11:59pm July 29. The winner will be notified by August 1st.

Good luck and may the worst poet win.

So, the past two nights I’ve attended the first meetings of the cast for The March of the Kitefliers. This is going to be fantastic. That’s really all I can say. The cast is starting off with a great energy and attitude towards the whole project. The set promises to be incredible, and the director understands the plays intent better than any writer could dream.

With that said, I encourage all Tampa residents to buy tickets now. In fact, give them as gifts. Spread the word. This was written by locals after all.

Okay, I’m all for movies like the Holy Grail going to broadway, but some things are just wrong!
