Personal

Yeah, so I’m 30. No big fanfare. By body didn’t begin to shut down. My mental capacity hasn’t started to diminish (well, not anymore than normal). I don’t feel a sudden need to procreate and act responsible. What’s the big deal?

Okay..in case you’re still trying to figure out the perfect gift for me on my 30th birthday, here it is..
Space Ghost Desk and Chair

So..I’m turning 30 in a couple of weeks. It’s odd, for a long time I thought I’d b e disturbed by this flip into adulthood. Instead, I’m rather nonplussed. It’s really just another birthday. Other than a back problem that I’ve had for over a year, I’m doing pretty good I think.

I’m selling my iBook tonight and getting ordering a newer model (in anticipation of the bit of bonus scratch I’m getting for Bloody Poetry). I’d much rather a powerbook, but unless we sell out all weekend and add a few shows, I don’t see that happening. I was hoping someone would say, “Get a Powerbook, I’ll cover the difference. Happy Birthday” No go yet though. Anyone…anyone…(yes, I’m a whore)

I have no ideas for what to wear the the All Saint’s Day party tomorrow. I was thinking of just showing up in a flannel and carrying a bottle of booze and saying I was Jack Kerouac…and I’ll do it unless someone can suggest something bette, that I’m willing to go with.

The theme is famous dead person btw…

This is a tragedy indeed…

I guess I oughta catch everyone up.
Rehearsals are going well. We’re in a remarkably good place for being 3 weeks away from opening.

Writing the next piece is going okay. I’d like to be further along at this point but we’re not going to rush it until we have a solid outline of everything to work from. I’m sure it will change as we write (doesn’t it always) but, there are a couple of hurdles to leap yet.

I’m pleased to have gotten in touch with a friend I hadn’t seen or talked to in 11 years. One of my best friends from high school. He’s in a band in Belgium..Nixon. Pretty damn good…

That’s the real highlight of the week…but..in preparation for the upcoming holiday…take a look at the Retrospice Halloween costume retrospective

Yeah, so I’ve decided to write something. Big whoop. Well, for one, now that the show is over I’d like to really go into some detail about how well the directors handled our material. In the past, the directors have tended to ignore some of the stage directions and suggestions for set design that we placed into the script. This time thought, they were right on. In fact, I can only think of one thing (a minor difference in sound) that wasn’t really what we described, but it still worked well.

For the 99% of you that didn’t see the show, it was a comedy…despite how the Weekly Planet feels about it (hey, if he can make assumptions on how the whole audience felt, I can make assumptions on how his whole organization feels).
It was extremely dependant on timing and speed. There was a significant amount of “banter” that required the actors to be incredibly fast with their lines, and the jokes were piled one on top of the next. It took them a while (up until about a week before rehearsal) but they got it and it was great to see.
I wasn’t there, but I hear the crowd even stamped their feet to the beats in our brief “Tainted Love” musical piece.

The good new is that I’ve finished the hellish import of data I’ve been working on for the last few weeks. Final count 2064 lines of T-SQL. It was loads of fun. There were a few bugs, but everything’s been ironed out.

The bad news…I’m a loser and no one entered my contest.

The good news….I know when someone looks at the site thanks to Instant Gratification.

The bad news….there’s like 2 people who look.

The good news…today marks eight years Gianna and I have been together, and it keeps getting better.

So..the article came out today. It’s more of a blurb actually. Gianna says I look stiff in the photo (although I don’t know how you can tell in something that small) The photo is yearbook photo size and has two of us in it. The piece is about 250 words at best. I can’t find it online. The good thing is that it isn’t bad. It’s just short and small. I’m not upset because I’m not getting more attention, but I am upset because I was hoping the article would generate more of a buzz for Murder Ballads…C’est la vie I guess.
