Babble

Yeah, so I guess there are a couple of things to mention…

#1- Delusion of Darkness officially opens tonight. I wish I’d been in a better mindset early on in the production process. I may have been able to take a bigger role as Assistant Director than I did. But as always I did learn something and I think spprs makes a fine director. If you’re in Tampa, come see this show, it’s worth it.

(Although I’ll be glad to have my evenings back.)

#2- TuneBar is still in testing, spprs has been a little busy to check if I fixed the bugs he found, but I will say it’s in rc3 thanks to someone at work pointing a few bugs out.

So I decided to assuage my downloaders guilt today and bought the new They Might Be Giants album from an independent store. I get in the car and immediately notice the cracked CD case, I just paid $17 w/tax for this thing and it’s broken. Then it takes me about 5 minutes just to get that stupid sticker off the edge of the case. That’s it. From now on I only buy digital. There’s nothing special in the liner notes anyhow..just a bunch of pretty pictures. For $9.99 I could have avoided all that crap.

Wow! It’s like everyone around me is having a bad day. My day started with dealing with Fed-ex ground trying to get a package they’ve been attempting to deliver for a week. G’s day began with her computer deciding to create a new profile for her. I hear someone I work with arguing with his wife. It’s like everyone’s having one big group shitty day.

Funny how that happens.

Anyone mind if I spend a couple of mintues ranting? No? Good.

So, after spending a good 30 minutes attempting to login to my Google adsense account, I finally gave up and emailed them. Since I Gonzonia had been rejected, the account was essentially locked.

A day or two later they responded saying that I can use my current ads on another site, blah blah blah. AGAIN I explained the issue with them, that the original site submitted was rejected and I wanted to apply a different site. They understood this time and asked for the site.

Last night, ReviewDude was rejected as well. What pisses me off though is the reason,

“Unfortunately, after reviewing www.reviewdude.com, we are unable to accept it into our
AdSense program at this time for the reasons related to:

-Page type

In general, we do not accept personal or chat sites into the AdSense
program. However, if a site contains targeted, text-based content and/or
provides a product or service, we may consider it for participation.

Thank you for your understanding.”

Excuse me? Personal site? Chat site? How does a site dedicated to reviews fit into either category? True, it uses a popular blog software for content managment, but so do quite a few other sites. Does the site not look professional enough? Am I crazy?

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

Not that anyone really cares, but my brain is mush. I’ve spent most of the day trying to figure out the best way to get .Net and Sourcesafe to play nice. Well, actually they play nice…if you do it their way.

Essentially I’m realizing that I’m going to have to put together a nice looking proposal to convince the bosses that we need to change our development environment. WEEEE! And tonight I get to go home and try to debug problems in MasterKey!

I want a vacation!

Well, I’m between projects at work so I have a moment to pontificate about the my all too exciting life.

Saw A Girls Guide to Chaos on Friday night. Great show. Hear they sold out on Saturday and Sunday. Buy your tickets now. Although they also added a weekend. (Fri and Sat only that last weekend I think).

I’m looking forward to getting back into a regular writing routine.

I’m hoping the mac programming I’ve been working on is now ready for release.

Garageband is fun.

Yeah, that’s about it.

Okay, in an hour or so, I’m headed over to Kev’s (maxmatahari) for his belated 30th bash.

I spend the day painting various doors around the house.

The holidays have been pretty rocking though…got to see old friends….had a new years bash…got a new camera…all in all a good time…now if I could only catch up on some sleep I’d be doing much better…and another 5 days off would be good.

So..yeah guess I really don’t have anyhting to say.

Oh well.

I’ve got to write. I don’t know why. The last few times spprs and I got together I might as well have been the doorstop since that’s about how much I contributed. Today though, I just wish I wasn’t at work. I’ve got too much shit to do to sit with the outline and try to bang something out. So, this will have to do…oh, and my little comment over on maladr1n’s livejournal.

I’m tired of tedium. I’ve spent most of my day flipping back and forth between a data entry screen and a database attempting to determine what fields the data is going into. All this so that I can then import that data into the system we’re building. WOO WOO! This sucks. It’s not difficult, just dull, boring, and frustrating.

That’s all for now. Please return to your regularly scheduled work day.
