Babble

I went to the show again last night. The cast did it again. A second standing ovation. That’s one of the better way to end a weekend. Especially when the next day I have to return to the office.

The cast of Kitefliers are amazing. Every time I watch it I’m struck by how natural they all are in their roles. If I hadn’t actually co-written the script, I’d think the roles were written FOR these people. The lighting is great, and the set is perfect. The directors vision was within inches of ours, and what differed only served to make it better.

So, a big thank you goes out to the cast and crew for doing such a brilliant job in giving life to the beast we created. We know it was a challenge and we’re glad you all were up to it.

As for the rest of you…GO SEE IT! If the crowds talk, we’ll be sold out the rest of the run, so buy your tickets now!

If you bought something, and it broke under warranty, when you took it back to the store what would you expect to happen if they no longer carried that exact model, but carried a comparable model?

Wow. G and I went to the mall to see a movie on Friday (thanks to her mom babysitting), and I saw someone who was either truly expressing themselves in a unique way, or sporting the fashion of a sub-culture I’d not seen. It appears that the pirate look is in.

Sorry for the bad picture, but the cell phone only goes so far. Notice the boots, the sash (that’s it dragging to the ground), the bandanna on the head, the billowy shirt (which was open down to near his navel)….

Now I wonder if high school “pirates” are like high school goths. Do they sit around and go “arrrgh matey” like high school goths talking about how much they want to be vampires?
(No offense to my goth friends, I am referring to the immaturity of high school not the sub-culture itself)

Seeing this I suddenly felt out of touch. I felt this huge gap between me and those that are in high school. Damn it I felt old!

The power came back around 10am this morning. That’s right 10 A.M. We went 18 hours without power. Luckily the house was nice and cool and it never got too bad during the night. When the power came back though, I lost a network card in the FreeBSD router. I swapped the card out with one of the spares I have lying around, and….problems. All the internal mcahines aren’t getting an IP address, or they get one and then lose it soon after. 5 hours later I get around to resetting the switches.
TA-DA! Yeah, I know. I should always start with resetting everything. I just wish they put “RESET” buttons on things. It’s a moronic design that I have to unplug something to get it to reset.

So, my power’s out, been out for about 1.5 hours now.

I’d like to send a big THANK YOU to the neighbors who are kind enough not to encrypt their wireless networks.

Apparently we’re the only house (at least that’s reported it), with no power on our street.

It’s starting to get toasty…good thing it happened in the evening and not mid morning.

I’m having one of those days where I feel like I should post something..anything.
I will not post my reaction to the election.
I will not post about work.
I will not post my deepest inner most thoughts.
I will not post about illegal activity.
I will not post a reaction to someone elses reaction to the election.

So what’s there to post? I went to a store at lunch…I decided not to buy anything.

That is all.

Still no power as of noon. I saw a truck in the neigborhood though. According to TECO they’ve been working on my problem since at least 5:30 last night when I called. BULLSHIT! I can see the lines down and there hasn’t been a truck at it. There wasn’t at 5:30. There wasn’t at 8. And the person who told me that it should be back last night casue it said “crew working” (when I could clearly see there wasn’t) should be fired!

Okay. I’m done for now.

At least I can steal the neighbors bandwidth. People should learn to encrypt their wireless networks.

So, I’m not an overly paranoid person, but I am cautious. When there’s a hurricane heading towards Florida, I get a little on edge. I want to make sure I’m prepared. When it’s heading for the east coast, I don’t get quite as nervous as when it’s heading straight for Tampa, but I still get prepared. I don’t understand the people who’s attitude is…
“If it comes here, it’ll be severely weakened”…That’s true, it will…it will be a Category 2 instead of a 4.

I don’t’ get too concerned about tropical storms, but a Cat2 hurricane still is dangerous. Why don’t people listen to warnings? The arrogance is amazing.

In contrast to yesterday…today is the worst day I’ve had at work to date.
The morning started by dripping coffee on my shirt and needing to change just before I walked out the door.
I got to work and the entire system was down.
Now, I find out that I’m losing a vacation day for last Friday, when the office and entire building (which we don’t own) was CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!

In the year I’ve worked here, I’ve seen a company that cared about its employees. I often felt they went out of their way to make the employees happiness a part of the companys vision.

I’m very disappointed today, it looks like that’s all about to change.

Today is a good day.
