Okay, so there’s no fire, but if the alarm went off are you a dedicated employee willing to sacrifice your life if there really is? Apparently most of the people in my building are. The fire alarms have gone off twice this morning. Both times there was a total of about 10 people who actually evacuated. When we told people arriving for work that the alarms had gone off they said, “Damn”, and went inside.
This is a baffling behavior to me. I value my life. I’m happy that I get to wake up each morning. Is depression so bad that all these people just don’t care? Or are they that dedicated to their jobs? Do I risk being fired now for not being dedicated enough?
Someone explain this to me. I’d evacuate 200 times if the alarm went off and they didn’t tell me immediately it was a false alarm. I don’t want to regret that one time when it was for real.

Absolutely correct. If it goes off 200 times, I’ll be taking 200 walks out the door.
