January 2003

Carlos from Home Depot came out yesterday and took a look at the absolute shitty quality of the edging on the floor. He also looked at the damaged door frame. They’re going to fix the edging and the door frame, and give me a refund of $250. (That’s the equivalent of the gift cars they’re giving away for free to people who buy floors now) I would have asked for more, but they are fixing the problems as well. In fact, right now I’m waiting on the gentleman who is repairing the door frame. He’s pulled that piece of wood off and has gone to get a replacement. I’ll have to repaint it, but I don’t see that as too big a deal (even though I’d really like to do it today I don’t think I will.) All in all, I’m pretty pleased with the way it turned out. Will I ever go to Home Depot again? Not if I can help it. Am I satisfied with how it all turned out? We’ll see when the edging is all done.

In the ongoing saga that is my trials and tribulations with Home Depot.

Saturday, Nazmia called and said Jay Sims would call by 3. He didn’t. On Monday I talked to Carlos (a manger or asst. manager from the store I ordered from) and he’s coming out Saturday (tomorrow) to see the damage. He also claims to have gotten the southeast regional installation manager involved. At 5:30 on Tuesday I recieved a message form Jay to call him . At 5:35 I got a message from Nazima to call her. I called and told her I was dealing with Home Depot. She wanted to have Al Green come out with Carlos. I told her to talk to Carlos. Later I decided that wouldn’t be a good idea. I talked to Carlos yesterday and told him I don’t want them coming out. He said he hadn’t talked to them.

Home Depot called to inform me that I need to go into the store to process the refund because they didn’t remove the ceramic tile.

There was a message on my voice mail when I returned from sending the letter.

I’m going to go in tonight before the letter gets there.

Okay..Here it is, the story of what has happened with Home Depot..(to this point)..
This is what I emailed and mailed.

The Letter

Okay. The floor is in…mostly. All I have to say is…NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH HOME DEPOT or US INSTALLATION GROUP. Thank you.

Details and photos to come. Probably tomorrow.
And if you order a mattress from Burdines. Call constantly to make sure it’s going to be delivered when expected.

Gonzo out.

I’m sure you’re both wondering how the move went. Well, it went well enough I guess. Some issues remain unresolved. But we’re in the house, the living room is painted, the new flooring goes in on Monday, our new bed comes next Saturday, I’ll be painting the office this weekend…All in all it’s good.
