So, yeah. Double-Edged Times will be reborn some time early next year. With an all new format and potentially powered by MoveableType it will be bigger…badder…better…wetter…uh..yeah…

Old stuff there right now…archives were unavailable for comment.

We found a house. We sold out house. We close on the current house on Dec. 10th. We close on the new house on Dec. 16th. Home Inspection on Thursday, and terminte inspecton on Tuesday.

Finally, the home stretch!!!!!

Here’s the new house
New House!

So, after seeing the success of Save Karyn I’ve decided to ask the generous web surfers to help my wife and I to get a nice house in a nice neighborhood. We’re hoping to move into a house in the Seminole Heights neighborhood in Tampa, Florida. To get a house that is in move-in condition and large enough and safe enough to start a family, we need about another $50,000 to add to the down-payment. This will allow us to purchase a home in a higher range than we are currently looking.

I hope to create a real domain that is hosted off a computer other than the one at my house for specifically this purpose. If you’d like to contribute money or things we can auction on ebay to the cause, please send money via paypal.

I just realized that in the last 30 days five people have quit. FIVE. 5. That’s a lot. Of those 5 I think 3 actually gave 2 week notice. My roommate was the latest one to be lucky enough to find a job somewhere else.

Hopefully the boss will wake up and conditions will improve. I’m actually happy that this is all happening only weeks before my annual review/raise.

I have two things today that I’d like to rant about.
#1 - Customer Service
#2 - A loss of general respect for the people around you.

#1 - Customer service sucks. This is a BIG pet peeve of mine. When I go somewhere I expect the people there to take pride in their work and do a good job. I expect them to be attentive to details and knowledgeable in their job. Sadly this is usually the exception. People tend to be so underpaid that they really couldn’t care less about their job or the work they do. I expect the people to treat me with respect and apologize when things aren’t going well. When I took my car in for it’s 10,000 mile check up, I was lied to, treated like crap, and misled. The people were lazy and obviously didn’t want to be there. That prompted this rant. I do not recommend going to the Express Service at Stadium Toyota. In fact I suggest you avoid it as much as possible. When I emailed the service manager I recieved a poorly worded and poorly formatted email that make me think he sent it via his phone. Sadly, he couldn’t take the 30 seconds to sit at his computer and respond.

#2 - People apparently have come to believe that when they are in public they are the only one’s around. They yell, scream, and are generally rude to anyone around them. This contributes to #1 by the way becuase the people in customer service are forced to deal with these assholes. There was a woman at Target last night who was about to go screaming down the aisles because only one register was open at 9pm. Then when they opened another one, she was going to jump in front of the other 3 people that were in line before her. We won’t discuss the appropriate volume and tone of voice that wasn’t being used.

Okay. I feel better now. Thanks for listening.
